Louisiana Man Arrested for Attempting to Buy Plasma TV for Less Than $5

A West Monroe, La., man was arrested Tuesday night for attempting to buy a plasma TV at a local Wal-Mart for less than $5.

A West Monroe, La., man was arrested Tuesday night for attempting to buy a plasma TV at a local Wal-Mart for less than $5.

Chandon L. Sims, 23, was charged with one count of felony theft for allegedly switching prices on the $984 TV with a much cheaper item. Police say the man carried the 42-inch Sanyo television to the self-checkout aisle and attempted to make the purchase.

Wal-Mart security took note of the transaction and called police. Sims was arrested at the scene an booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center.
