LAPD to Ride Harley-Davidson Motorcycles
April 29, 2005
|
The Los Angeles Police Department has issued a purchase order for 75 ABS-equipped Harley-Davidson Police Electra Glide motorcycles to replace a portion of the agency’s existing fleet of 393 motorcycles.
After evaluating motorcycles from various manufacturers, the LAPD decided Harley-Davidson’s offering best met department needs. Tests conducted measured acceleration, handling, and braking. Other factors considered included purchase cost and cost of maintenance and operation.
Delivery of the bikes is scheduled for summer.
