The Michigan Department of State Police recently purchased $1 million in Master Lock gunlocks to be used in a statewide firearm lock give-away program.
Michigan's "Gun Safety is No Accident" program is sponsored by the Michigan legislature and is in the process of distributing approximately 455,000 gunlocks through the state patrol.
"The main focus of this campaign is not only to distribute gun safety mechanisms to the public, but also to promote gun safety throughout Michigan," notes Sgt. Greg Jones, head of the campaign.
More than 3 million locks were distributed to citizens across the country in 2001.
Master Lock Company is currently developing a gun safety/security booklet which will be included in future programs that use Master Lock products.
