Each January the leading manufacturers of firearms bring their latest law enforcement products to the Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade show in Las Vegas. Here's some information about some of the newest and most interesting police guns that will be at the show.

AMCHAR/American Tactical Imports

The American Tactical Omni Hybrid Maxx Series offers an unusual line of calibers, configurations, and barrel lengths to suit any sporting or law enforcement objective. This new line of AR-15 rifles feature the new Omni Hybrid Receivers, which are constructed of metal-reinforced polymer and accept all Mil-Spec parts. The company says the Omni Hybrid Receivers are super-lightweight, but have the durability of aluminum forged receivers. The Omni Hybrid Upper receiver is multi-caliber and can be used as 5.56mm, .300 BLK, .22LR, or 6.8mm SPC.

Beretta
Beretta

Beretta

The 1301 Tactical Pistol Grip LE is Beretta's new gas operated semi-automatic shotgun designed for the law enforcement professional. Lightweight and fast pointing, the 1301 features an oversized charging handle, safety button, and bolt release straight out of the box. The BLINK gas operating system allows the 1301 to cycle its 6+1 rounds 36% faster than any other shotgun. The 18.5-inch barrel mounts a rugged ghost ring sighting system with interchangeable front blade sight. The receiver offers a MIL-STD-1913 rail. The pistol-grip stock features an adjustable cheek piece and multiple sling attachment points.

Bushmaster

Bushmaster

Since its release, the Bushmaster Adaptive Combat Rifle (ACR) has been released in several different versions. The latest is the ACR DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle). The DMR incorporates a number of features designed for taking long-range shots. First, the standard 16.5-inch ACR barrel has been swapped out for an 18.5-inch stainless steel, Melonite-coated barrel. Other features include an ACR polymer hand guard, Magpul PRS stock, MIAD grip, Geissele trigger, and AAC 51T Blackout flash hider.

Daniel Defense
Daniel Defense

Daniel Defense

Daniel Defense says its new M4 Carbine V11 SLW is one of the lightest, fastest-handling rifles available in the DDM4 line-up. Built around a cold hammer forged, 14.5-inch lightweight profile barrel, the V11 SLW has an extended flash suppressor, which is pinned and welded to reach the NFA required 16-inch minimum barrel length. The mid-length gas system provides smooth and reliable cycling under any conditions and reduces both perceived recoil and wear on moving parts. A free-floating SLiM Rail 12.0 handguard offers incredible weight savings as well as superior cooling, ergonomics, and modularity while maintaining the strength and durability expected from Daniel Defense.

FNH USA

A 9mm compact model is the latest striker-fired handgun in the FNH FNS-9 Compact. The FNS-9 Compact offers the same features as the standard FNS models but has a 3.6-inch barrel and is designed to be snag-free for better concealment and a faster draw. Other features include a front sight with a large for faster target acquisition, MIL-STD 1913 rail, and ambidextrous controls. Comes with two 12-round and one 17-round magazine.

Glock

Glock

Glock will be displaying a special landmark in its history at this year's SHOT Show. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the introduction of Glock pistols to the U. S. market; Glock Inc. was established in the United States in1986. Glock pistols are now the sidearm of choice for more than 65% of the law enforcement agencies across the United States, and they are used by more than 50 elite military units worldwide. To commemorate the occasion, 30th anniversary pistols have been uniquely hand engraved by five master engravers. The exclusive pistols will be presented throughout the year to exceptional individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the success of Glock. Each of these G17s includes a limited production serial number and a certificate of authenticity signed by Gaston Glock.

IWI
IWI

IWI US

IWI US, Inc., a subsidiary of Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) Ltd., will be showing its Tavor SAR rifle at SHOT. Originally developed to be the primary infantry weapon of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the Tavor was designed to replace the IDF's M4 carbines, and it has succeeded in doing so. In addition to its service with the IDF, the Tavor has been adopted by military units and law enforcement agencies in many different countries. Select- fire and semi-auto versions of the Tavor are available for a variety of applications. The firearm's bullpup configuration allows for short rifle convenience with long rifle accuracy. It also features an optimized ergonomic design for increased comfort and ease-of-use, and clean, long stroke gas piston operation.

Kel-Tec
Kel-Tec

Kel-Tec

Kel-Tec says that with the design of its new 5.56mm RDB (Rifle Downward Eject Bullpup), it has solved the primary problem with the bullpup configuration. Traditional side eject bullpup rifles cannot be ambidextrous, and front ejection requires complicated mechanics, so Kel-Tec went with the downward eject design. The RDB features a rotary bolt with a spring-loaded ejector and an extractor facing down. The spent case is pulled backwards along the top of the magazine and then ejected down a vertical chute. The hammer is "U" shaped and runs outside the chute and above the magazine. Bolt travel in this design is longer than in traditional designs, but Kel-Tec says it is well within the ergonomic constraints of the rifle. Advantages of this design are gravity-assisted ejection, higher bolt energy at feeding, and a slower full-auto rate in select-fire models. The RDB is built around a common steel skeleton formed by the receiver and barrel sub-assemblies. Bolt, bolt carrier, firing mechanism, ejector chute, and bolt stop are identical for all variations. The short-stroke, gas-operated piston is fully adjustable for different ammunition and muzzle attachments. Barrel length is 17.4 inches; overall length is 27.4 inches. The rifle weighs 7 pounds empty.

Remington
Remington

Remington

Remington will be showing off its new RM380 pistol, the first handgun designed and produced at the company's new Huntsville, AL, facility. The RM380 features a tough, all-metal construction for durability and longevity. It also has the longest barrel in its class to maximize muzzle velocity and bullet expansion and facilitate shooting precision and accuracy. Weighing 12.2 ounces unloaded and measuring 5.25 inches long, the RM380 is designed for concealed carry. And the company says the RM380's extended beavertail grip helps shooters make a smooth draw, even in suboptimal conditions. The RM380 features a light and smooth double-action-only trigger, fully functional low-profile slide stop, light slide racking force, and an ambidextrous magazine release.

Ruger

Ruger

The ambidextrous Ruger American Pistol is designed for reliability in the harshest conditions. It features a customizable platform that combines a scientifically designed barrel cam, a low mass slide, a low center of gravity, and low bore axis to reduce felt recoil and muzzle flip for faster follow-up shots. The Ruger American Pistol boasts genuine Novak sights, stainless steel construction with Black Nitride finish, a precision machined chassis, high performance rigid nylon grip frame, and a mil-std-1913 accessory rail. Available in 9mm and .45 ACP, with optional manual safety.

Smith & Wesson
Smith & Wesson

Smith & Wesson

Smith & Wesson will be showing the Performance Center M&P Shield pistol with a factory ported barrel and slide in both 9mm and .40 S&W. Engineered on a high-strength polymer frame measuring .95 inches wide, the Performance Center M&P Shield has a 3.1-inch factory-ported barrel. The new barrel along with the pistol's three precision cut ports across the top of the stainless steel slide aid in reducing muzzle flip and improve the ability to remain on target after firing. The new M&P Shield pistols have been further updated with fiber optic sights and an enhanced trigger. The Performance Center M&P Shield has an 18-degree grip angle and a fixed, textured backstrap with additional texturing at the forward portion of the grip. An extended trigger guard allows for operation of the pistol with or without gloves. The new M&P Shield is also engineered with a Performance Center sear for a quick trigger reset and a Performance Center striker plunger for an enhanced trigger pull. Internal features of the new M&P Shield mirror the standard M&P Series.
