Pennsylvania State Police Bring in Armored Rook for Cop Killer Search

September 24, 2014  |

Authorities hunting a survivalist and suspected cop killer in the rugged woods of eastern Pennsylvania say they believe they are closing in on him and have brought in a 6.5-ton armored tactical vehicle dubbed "The Rook" and outfitted with robotic video cameras to assist in a search now entering its 12th day.

Lt. Col. George Bivens told a press conference Wednesday that officers believe they spotted 31-year-old Eric Frein, who is charged with killing one trooper and wounding another, as recently as Tuesday. However the distance and extremely rugged terrain separating the officers from Frein in each sighting meant "he has had the ability to disappear," Bivens told reporters.

Police found empty packs of Serbian-branded cigarettes and soiled diapers believed to have been left by the suspect, Bivens said, helping to cement authorities' belief they are close to him. Police believe Frein is using diapers so he can remain stationary for long periods of time, Fox News reports.

The massive ongoing search now includes a 13,000-pound Rook armored vehicle. The armored critical incident vehicle produced by Ring Power Tactical Solutions allows officers to gain entry to the second story of a house without a ladder or to deploy snipers to rooftops.

While this might certainly be a useful tool I wonder how it operates in the kind of terrain where this killer is hidden?

Libertarians must be crapping their Cop hating pants!

It just isn't going to work. This machine can't maneuver the way that's needed. Also, I'm sure the loon knows that when that shows up Officers are going to be right with it. This nut is a total wack job.
I was involved the similar 90's manhunt of Billy Burkhart in Park County Colorado. Was burglarizing mt. cabins/houses when he shot a Deputy with a shotgun. Deputy did live. We manhunted him for months. Sheriff Bob Harrison on his final month as Sheriff came across him while out patrolling & captured him. Nut had shot himself in the thigh during the original manhunt & had fecal matter layered inside his multiple layered jeans. I can't wait until they catch him.

Libertarians must be crapping their Cop hating pants!< Jason Libertarians don't hate LEOs. Libertarians and Constitution people support the RULE OF LAW. As for the "Cop Killer" the guy thought an Officer cheated with his wife. As more info is being released. I'm sick of Misinformation agents, trying to paint people who believe in the Founding Documents of the USA as evil. And yes I have faith in God, and I'm no Obama bootlicker. When Genocide on a Planetary Scale happens. Don't blame the Tin Foil Hat People. Even supporters of the Gov. will be in the Fray. The Georgia Guide stones, let it be known that a small number of people should live on Earth. So that excludes lots of people, even large numbers of Sycophants and Bootlickers who worship O. Once the NWO is a success there won't be much of anything left of Earth for them to have.

As reported in the media the suspect is now playing with the Officers by allowing them to see him while still being too far away to apprehend. The suspect is using adult diapers and survivalists gear to hide near the officers while they search the dense woods. In some cases areas where the Officers had just been, they found evidence that the suspect had been hiding near-by. For the suspect this manhunt has become a game. The suspect has been training for this moment his entire adult life. The suspect is a military re-enactment hobbyist and his specialty is eastern European Spetsnaz Tactics (Russian Special Forces). Reported by his parents, he has been making threats for years that he wanted to kill someone in Law Enforcement. I still say knowing all this, the father should be charged with murder as well since it was his weapon and ammunition that was used to kill the Trooper and his jeep was used to transport the suspect to the barracks. The suspect's father had known for years that his son was mentally unstable and yet he did nothing.
