The St. Louis County (Mo.) Police Department acquired a Lenco Bearcat and Farber equipment truck to provide a regional resource for tactical officers.
The agency used homeland security grants to purchase the Bearcat for $360,000. The agency also equipped the vehicle with a plated platform that can be elevated 17 feet.
Farber Specialty Vehicles provided an equipment truck for $240,000 so the agency can store newly acquired counter-terrorism gear to respond to an active shooter, mass casualty event or even a chemical, biological or nuclear event, Capt. John Belmar told Fenton-High Ridge Patch.
