VIDEO: N.M. School Bus Pursuit
New Mexico State Police released dash-cam footage Monday of their pursuit of a stolen school bus earlier this month in which the PIT Maneuver was used to halt the chase.
A state police SUV eventually stopped the bus, which had been stolen from a bus yard by Nathaniel Shipman. Officers ended the pursuit before 7 a.m. on March 9 in Albequerque by forcing the bus into a median, reports KOAT.
The video captures Shipman barreling down Interstate 40 and with long strips of tire rubber ripping loose from at least two attempts by police to stop him with spike strips.
