Ohio Cruiser Thief Was Trying to 'Protect the People'
November 30, 2011
An Ohio man attempting to steal an Amherst Police cruiser told an officer he was trying to take the car "on patrol to protect the people of Amherst."
An Amhert officer discovered 38-year-old Peter Theado locked in a cruiser, when he went to the lot to answer a call, reports the Plain Dealer.
Theado had attempted to get instructions from a dispatcher about how to override the vehicle's security system and engage the transmission.
