Illinois Police Deploy Snowmobiles After Blizzard Hits

Two snowmobiles owned by the Round Lake Park (Ill.) Police Department were put into service Wednesday afternoon to assist with some 40 vehicles that had slid off roadways, reports the Daily Herald.
Fire and police personnel were teamed on the snowmobiles, after the blizzard hit Tuesday. Round Lake Park obtained the two sleds — previously used by the Navy in the Arctic Circle — for free through a U.S. military surplus program.
