Findings from a nationwide study suggest that 4.1 million people in the US have been infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV), and most of these individuals have chronic infection. However, the current rate of infection, 1.6 percent, is actually slightly lower than a decade ago when the rate was 1.8 percent.
