ArmStar's BodyGuard is a combination of armor and electronic control device. The device is slipped over the wearer's forearm with the wearer's hand in a glove that is fitted with a pressure switch. When the wearer triggers the switch by squeezing his or her hand, electrodes on the BodyGuard arc and so does a hot bar imbedded in the shield of the arm guard. ArmStar says the visible demonstration of the BodyGuard's arc and its loud electric sound are intended to intimidate subjects and deter aggression. The BodyGuard has attracted attention from law enforcement, corrections, and the military.
