The built-in rechargeable battery offers up to four hours of service and the unit can go from cold start to use in 25 seconds. Focus range is eight feet to infinity and the PalmIR 250 can detect a person at almost a half-mile. An assortment of lenses is available, from 25 to 150 mm for wide angle to telephoto operation. The light weight of the unit makes it extremely partable for canyon searches, building searches, security and other uses in the field.
