Facebook Helps N.Y. Police Solve 45-Year-Old Cold Case

April 24, 2013  |

Fulton (N.Y.) Police are crediting a Facebook post with helping them identify a driver who fatally struck a 4-year-old 45 years ago, reports CBS News.

A former Fulton resident living in Florida provided the name of 62-year-old Douglas Parkhurst after reading a retired detective's Facebook post about the cold case.

Parkhurst struck Carolee Saide Ashby on Halloween night in 1968 while driving his 1962 tan Buick and failed to stop. He won't be charged because the statute of limitations has expired, police said.
