Footage Shows Thieves Cleaning Out $3 Million In Jewelry
March 04, 2011
The Los Angeles Police Department has released surveillance video from a downtown jewelry heist that resulted in the theft of $3 million in merchandise during a methodically planned robbery, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Thieves who tunneled into the Broadway Gold Center on Feb. 19 can be seen cleaning out rings and other jewelry from cases in the store in the footage.
During the break-in, which took place between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m., the burglars wore masks and gloves and carried backpacks. The owners apparently left the jewelry in the cases to save the three hours it takes to store the valuables in the vault.
