Raytheon to Provide APCO P25 Radio System for Idaho First Responders

October 13, 2008  |

Raytheon Company will provide an APCO Project 25 (P25) radio system for public safety agencies throughout eastern Idaho to enable seamless interoperable communications. The company will be a subcontractor on the multi-million dollar contract awarded to Teton Communications Inc.

P25net is an advanced Internet protocol (IP) networked radio system that is fully compatible with all P25 radios and the industry standard interface to other manufacturers' P25 radio systems.

Raytheon will deliver a 14-site P25net digital trunked radio communications solution and provide system integration services including equipment configuration and 24-hour technical support. The system includes additional components from Tait Radio Communications.

"This deployment represents the core philosophy of interoperability," said Jerry Powlen, vice president of Integrated Communications Systems, Raytheon. "First responders spanning a five-county area have joined to implement a standardized wide area interoperable communications solution to achieve efficient joint command and control throughout their region."

"Taking advantage of a standards-based IP platform and a distributed architecture, Raytheon's P25net provides first responders with an affordable P25 radio system," said Tony Hafla, president, Teton Communications Inc.

Raytheon Company, with 2007 sales of $21.3 billion, is a technology leader specializing in defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world. With a history of innovation spanning 86 years, Raytheon provides state-of-the-art electronics, mission systems integration and other capabilities in the areas of sensing; effects; and command, control, communications and intelligence systems, as well as a broad range of mission support services. With headquarters in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon employs 72,000 people worldwide.
