Two convicted murderers escaped an Arizona prison Monday using scaling ladders and climbing over two fences. One was captured. The other is still on the run.
Authorities say the inmates were working on a cleaning crew at the Florence Correctional Center. They assaulted a guard and tied him up.
Det. Walt Hunter of the Florence Police Department told the Associated Press that the inmates used ladders to climb onto the prison roof then they escaped over two fences.
Hunter said that the escaped inmates, Kollin Folsom and Roy Townsend, had been transferred to
Arizona from Washington state. Folsom was later captured in a building south of Florence. At presstime, Townsend was still at large.
The Florence Correctional Center is operated by the Corrections Corporation of America.
