Bergara Completes Custom Build Rifle for Cobb County S.W.A.T.

Bergara USA, a division of BPI Outdoors, announced today that it has completed its custom build tactical rifle for the Cobb County (Ga.) Police Department S.W.A.T. unit. The rifle is based on its "Heavy Tactical" model and includes various customized features and components.

SWAT Officer Invents Passive Body Armor Ventilation System

The TacVent achieves separation of the armor from the wearer's body with space rather than material, using a corrugated panel of soft, rubbery plastic comprised of vented, vertical grooves. This panel pushes the armor away from the body by a half inch, which allows heat to escape from the torso and flow upward, uninhibited and out of the vest. Shelton says this effect cools the wearer's body surface by up to 14.5 degrees.

Washington Standoff Ends Peacefully When Shooting Suspect Surrenders

The search for a drive-by shooting suspect turned violent in Yakima, Wash., on Thursday when gunfire broke out, wounding a corrections officer and setting off a 90-minute standoff punctuated by occasional gunshots fired from inside a home containing the suspect.

Atlanta Area SWAT Unit Receives Bergara Rifles

Bergara USA, a division of BPI Outdoors, has delivered on its third Bergara rifle contract received from a Georgia police department. The Douglasville Police Department SWAT team selected the Bergara Premier Tactical chambered in .308.

The National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) has announced that Sheriff David A. Clarke Jr. of Milwaukee County, Wis., will be the keynote speaker at the 2015 Tactical Conference Awards Banquet, to be held Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015.

Montana was arrested in Murfreesboro in 2004 for assault and resisting arrest, according to officials. He was known to have psychiatric issues, and he had allegedly been committed four times, twice in 2004 to TriStar Centennial Parthenon Pavilion Mental Health Clinic in Nashville and twice in 2007 to a different facility.
