VIDEO: SC Detective Wounded in Tuesday Ambush Dies

Surrounded by his family Wednesday evening at Carolinas Medical Center, York County (SC) Sheriff's Office Det. Mike Doty died from wounds he suffered in a Tuesday morning ambush, York County Sheriff Kevin Tolson said.

Doty was shot during an ambush and shootout early Tuesday morning near the town of York. He was a member of a county SWAT team searching for a suspect who had shot a K-9 handler hours earlier, authorities say. Two other law enforcement officers were wounded in the ambush.

Doty started working at the York County Sheriff’s Office in May 2006. He was an investigator with the York County Multi-jurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit, WSOC TV reports.

Doty was the Law Enforcement Officer Narcan Program coordinator for the Sheriff’s Office and was also a member of the York County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Entry Team, as well as an associate advisor for the York County Explorer Post 1786.

Suspect Christian Thomas McCall was wounded in the gunfight and taken into custody. He is reportedly hospitalized. His condition has not been released.

God speed. Thank you for your service. Rest in peace.

Rest in peace officer Doty. May the bastards that ambushed you meet with a similar fate and die a miserable death. Ambushes of LEOS are on the rise and these pieces of garbage seem emboldened just as if Obama was still president.
