December 31, 2017  |

A gunman shot and killed a Douglas County (CO) Sheriff’s deputy, and wounded four other deputies and two civilians at an apartment complex during a domestic violence call early Sunday morning, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said.

About 5:15 a.m., deputies responded to the Copper Canyon Apartments in Highlands Ranch.

A gunman opened fire, hitting five deputies and two civilians. One deputy was confirmed dead and the six others were taken to hospitals, the sheriff’s office told KDVR TV.

Very sorry to hear of the loss of another brother in blue. Prayers for healing for the other deputies wounded. Semper Fi!

Just Awful! And I suppose the gunman is alive and well. Guess we will have to wait to find that out.

TX DEPUTY JJG @ 12/31/2017 11:46 AM

Condolences to the deceased deputy's family and coworkers. Speedy recovery to the others. Domestic disturbances are a deadly fact that we all have to deal with. Be safe as possible on every call. 37 Yr. LEO
