A wanted fugitive is in the Utah County Jail after literally running into a Provo SWAT Team and K-9 unit in training Thursday afternoon.

Maria Peterson, Public Information Officer with the Utah Department of Corrections, says Derreke Nelson, 39, was wanted by Adult Probation and Parole for failing to appear for a scheduled check-in on February 22, 2017.

Peterson says Thursday around 2:00 p.m. AP&P officials recognized Nelson's car in Provo. She says Nelson was in a vehicle with two other people. As officials attempted to pull the vehicle over all three fled.

Provo Police says officers assisted AP&P in the search for Nelson and the two other people. The arrest of Nelson came very quickly after he ran into a crowd of 30 SWAT officers and 3 K-9 units training in Provo. He was placed under arrest and booked into the Utah County Jail for outstanding warrants, ABC4 News reports.
