VIDEO: Minnesota Teen Planned to Bomb School, Murder SRO, Kill Family

John David LaDue had it all figured out. He would kill his mother, father and sister and then create a diversion to keep first responders busy while he went to Waseca Junior/Senior High School to wreak havoc.

There, the 17-year-old planned to set off pressure-cooker bombs full of nails and metal ball bearings in the cafeteria. Students who weren’t maimed or killed would be gunned down in the halls, he told police.

After his arrest Tuesday, the high school junior said he intended to kill "as many students as he could," before he was killed by the SWAT team, according to charging documents filed in Waseca County District Court.

LaDue was charged Thursday with four counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree damage to property and six counts of possession of a bomb by someone under 18, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

As with all the other school shooters and most other active shooters, this kid may have been on psychotropic drugs. The investigation should start with that.

jon @ 5/2/2014 11:42 AM

Rick, you nailed it on the head. Psycotic drugs is always the main problem with mass shootings, but the media seems to ignore this fact.

ROCKY @ 5/2/2014 11:48 AM

Children under Psyc care should be montitored by school trained staff to spot these problems before they happen, very stricked guide lines should be inforced, parents should sign special forms to give the school permission to detain such a student at Any time, If suspected of violent outburst or odd behavior.

Most all mass killings/shootings since 1970 have been done by those on Prescription psych drugs like Halcion, Prozac, Ritalin and the like. When taken off these drugs and fed a balanced diet of whole foods (NOT processed) they suddenly change in a very short period of time (weeks to a few months) and are normal once again. Kids and people living off processed foods always develop psychological problems of one degree or another. Piss poor parenting is also a problem, let's get parents back into Parenting and quit letting TV, Xbox and the schools parent children. The hold the parents responsible for their actions. I was near death eat the standard American diet, now with whole foods minimally cooked, 1/3 of my diet raw vegetables and yes RAW Diary (unpasteurized) and I am now off the insulin and diabetes meds and loosing weight and rebuilding my body. To my fellow friends in LE take a 15 minute break every 30 minutes of Cruiser time when possible and "sitting disease" won't happen.

John @ 5/2/2014 1:27 PM

AMEN James! Obviously a brother in blue and very smart one at that! I too have been in LE for 26 years and just now started eating chemical free, makes a BIG difference. Just heard Lt. Col Dave Grossmans spill on video gaming and violence in kids, which also hits the mark! Come on people wake up, take charge of your kids and stop being lazy, your helping kill off what was once a great society!

Me @ 5/3/2014 1:39 PM

Excuse me, I was on drugs as a kid. I got beat around and picked on at school regularly. Never once did I consider doing this kind of s#!t! I knew plenty of self-absorbed ass-holes who would have though. One of them tried to stab me to death one day on the bus - didn't work out for him. I never took it out on anyone else though. Maybe somebody who plans this kind of thing is a piece of shit. And maybe people who look first to meds and diet are idiots. Just say'n, maybe.

Ima Leprechaun @ 5/3/2014 6:35 PM

The suspect was not on any kind of medication for depression or any other form of mental illness. He came up with his Attack plans completely on his own. He was described by his best friend as being kind of shy. Everyone was lucky that a near-by resident observed his suspicious behavior when the suspect began putting backpacks and weapons into a shed next to the school. Luckily she called the police.

I have to honestly think that the first few comments were left as troll bait. They can't be serious.
