A Mesa, Ariz., K-9 is recovering at home following a standoff with a burglary suspect Saturday night that ended in an officer-involved shooting, officials said.

The suspected burglar, identified as 32-year-old Chad Bogle, was killed during the exchange, but it was unclear if he died from gunshots fired by police or if it was self-inflicted, Mesa Police Department spokesman Sgt. Tony Landato told the Arizona Republic.

Jake, the K-9, was stabbed several times during a standoff with Bogle, he said. The dog was taken to an emergency veterinarian, where he underwent surgery and later was released.

God bless you Jake, and watch over you too! May He keep you safe from the bad guy, and may YOU but lots of bites on the bad guys too!

So glad to hear Jake survived. Hope he can have some well-deserved down time to heal and is able to get back on the job.

Whether Bogle died from a police bullet or one of his own it is good that society is permanently rid of him. Way to go Jake, proving once again the courage and tenacity of K9's whether in police work or the military.

THAT A BOY JAKE! Another example of the fine job done by our K-9 partners, we are blessed by the Lord to have them as friends, partners and a backup with a BITE!

Good job Jake hope you get better fast. Well done to the officers that saved Jake's life. He looks a lot like my Tanja that I had in PR when I was in the military. She was a great bomb dog and had one hell of a bite.
