The FBI and NYPD have begun investigating the letters that threatened the mayor and referenced the debate on gun laws, reports Bloomberg News.

Officers opened the letters at the city's mail facility on Gold Street in Manhattan, are being examined for minor symptoms of ricin exposure that they experienced that have since abated.
