At least three people were shot at a community college in north Harris County on Tuesday morning.

The shooting happened in an administrative building of Lone Star College. The gunman then retreated to the library, reports KVUE. A person of interest has been detained, a Harris County Sheriff's major told KVUE. Tactical units, including the Houston Police Department's SWAT team, are now searching for a second suspect at the scene.

It is believed four people were involved. Both the original gunman and his intended victim were shot, although there appears to be only one handgun involved. A male custodian was also hit. The fourth individual, a female student, required medical attention after the shooting.

One of the persons of interest appears to be a student at the school. The campus was closed, and college officials evacuated students.

Santiago Carmona, a student in the college's paramedic program, tweeted live photos and video of the incident, including photos of a student cowering in a classroom and the Houston PD's armored SWAT vehicle arriving at the campus.

It's all the guns fault!...or so the "blamestream media' will say

maleman39 @ 1/22/2013 5:35 PM

Photo looks staged.
Looks like the national gun-ban instigators have switched from schools to colleges. Smells very fishy.

The little boy in black in the corner on the left.....is he really sucking his thumb ?

Renita @ 1/22/2013 7:17 PM

HUMM, great cover so close by yet the guy cowards in the corner without cover. Just how scared is he that the fear element did not auto reflect the cover of protection?

Tony @ 1/22/2013 7:38 PM

Pitiful that the kid in the corner an the photographer set up this photo. Absolutely pitiful.

Another staged photo. That's the liberal media - all the lies fit to print.

D. Early @ 1/23/2013 5:01 AM

Disappointing to see this photo labeled as a "student cowering". One of the two seated gentleman have an LEO or FD jacket on that appears to say HOUSTON POLICE or FIRE. And if the person cowering in the corner is really a student, why is he wearing what looks like police blues and plain black boots? And why is no one else cowering. Clearly staged and judging by the appearance of thumb sucking by the guy posing for the picture it's demeaning and insulting for anyone who was involved in this situation.

Another school shooting… Did someone forget to post a “NO GUNS ALLOWED” sign somewhere? I hold the administration responsible. What they need are illuminated signs posted in plain sight on every entrance. That is inexcusable…

BEFORE anything was ever confirmed about the shooting this is what was witnessed in a class room during the students lunch break, AFTER the shooting was confirmed the tempo of the reactions was changed as you could see from other photos taken by the student/s that were in/on school grounds.

Now any of you guys/gals who've been in law enforcement any length of time know that if the media can't get a story legitimately they'll stage or make it up to fit their needs! Although they may not have staged this pic, they are posting it, and that's just as bad.

I suppose people are going to blame the gun again. Of course liberals will say the gun is at fault. It has nothing to do with the human that took it there or pulled the trigger. Their agenda is clear.

If we treated all violent crimes seriously, this type of thing would not be occurring. We do not go after Ford or General Motors if someone deliberately runs a car into a crowd. We do not ask for smaller cars, smaller gas tanks, or cars with three wheels. We go after the person driving the car! Common sense has left the building. Where is capital punishment when we need it?

Grunt @ 1/23/2013 9:22 PM

It was on the news folks. This was an active shooter training. But yes very poor taste in acting.
