A suicidal man who opened fire on Norwich (Conn.) Police and wounded an officer killed himself in a city apartment during an hours-long standoff with authorities, state police said Tuesday.
A state police tactical team found 30-year-old Jason Razzino dead in a bathroom after breaking into the home at the Cedar Glen Apartments, hours after the standoff began Monday afternoon, state police Lt. J. Paul Vance said.
The wounded officer, Jonathan Ley, a 14-year veteran of the force, was in fair condition Tuesday at Yale-New Haven Hospital, a hospital spokesman said, and he remains in intensive care.
Vance said the 38-year-old Ley is being treated for four gunshot wounds. Authorities said Ley was wearing a bulletproof vest when he was shot.
