Around 10:15 a.m., a 6-year-old girl being held hostage by her father in Del City, Okla., was released, and her father was found dead inside the house.
The standoff began Wednesday morning when a woman called 911 at 7:30 a.m. She said her 29-year-old boyfriend broke into her house that morning, and took her and their two daughters -- ages 6 and 2 -- hostage in the 1900 block of Karen Drive. She managed to escape with the 2 year old, but the 6-year-old girl remained inside the house.
Police responded and approached the house. They said when they got close, the suspect fired a gunshot. Police backed off and called in the SWAT team and emergency medical crews.
