A barricaded suspect who held another man hostage with a machete eventually surrendered after the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's tactical unit was called out.

Special Enforcement Bureau (S.E.B.) deputies were called out to the 37500 block of 37th Street East in Palmdale after noon on Sunday.

Nemecio Magallanes, 41, was holding his uncle hostage in the bathroom of the home and refused to leave. He kept hanging up the phone on deputies who tried to talk to him.

The uncle called 911 and said Magallanes was hallucinating and had threatened to kill him with the machete. Deputies who arrived saw the suspect walking around the house with a rifle.

Magallanes surrendered, as S.E.B. deputies arrived via Air Rescue 5 helicopter at a nearby field, according to a sheriff's statement.
