A tactical Chicago Police officer emerged from surgery Tuesday, after he was shot three times in the chest Monday night on the Southeast Side.

Officer Del Pearson, 47, is an 8-year veteran with the Chicago Police Department assigned to the South Chicago (Fourth) District.

At 10:45 p.m. Monday, Pearson and other Fourth District officers attempted to stop four curfew violators on the 8500 block of South Kingston. As the officers approached to conduct a field interview, one of the subjects fled the scene into an alley on the 8400 block of South Kingston.

Officer Pearson pursued the subject into a front yard, where the offender fired shots, striking the officer in the upper body. The shooter remains at large.

Thank you God for keeping my brother here with us!

This sounds like a good man doing his job. This is why curfews and checkpoints are a good idea in many situations. Setting a line brings out the undesirables to be dealt with. I hope vigilance catches the offender soon.

Officer is doing better and the offender is in custody and charged accordingly.

Thank God that Officer Pearson is still alive. Gee, what will Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Father Flager, the Occupy whatever people, and the media going to say if the shooter was an Africian American. Will there be protests all across the country? Will "Community Leaders" show their damn faces all over the tv saying that this was racism? Thank God for men and women will to protect us and our streets.
