N.C. Officer Stable After Shot by Suicidal Subject

February 07, 2012  |

A Raleigh (N.C.) Police SWAT officer who was shot multiple times by a suicidal man Monday remained in stable condition at WakeMed hospital.

Officer A.W. Young was struck by gunfire, when the department's tactical team made entry at 7:30 p.m. to a residence at 9321 Bothwell St. in the Colonial Grand at Brier Creek Place off Alm Street.

Police had evacuated the area earlier in the day, after Steven Gregory Meyer, 48, made suicidal threats. He was later found dead in the home. Police tracked Meyer to the address, reports the News Observer.
