Maryland Hostage Standoff Captured on Video

January 28, 2011  |

A bank robber exited a Maryland bank on Friday with a gun pointed to the head of a hostage and, after his hostage broke free, was fatally shot by six Prince George's County (Md.) Police officers, while news helicopters captured the incident on video.

After the suspect slipped, the hostage ran and six officers opened fire, creating a cross-fire that resulted in one officer being struck in the leg by friendly fire, reports the Washington Post.

At 9:25 a.m. Friday, police descended on the Takoma Park bank. Wearing a heavy tan jacket, the robber exited the bank with a gun held to a woman's head.
