Oregon Cop's Shooter Slipped Into Deluded State, Friends Say

January 27, 2011  |

A search team hunting for the man who shot and critically wounded Lincoln City (Ore.) Police Officer Steven Dodds believes the suspect is hiding out in a vacation home near the Pacific Ocean.

The suspect has been identified as David Anthony Durham, a 43-year-old former landscaper who family members say slipped into a deluded state and at one point misinterpreted a movie about space aliens for a documentary, reports the Associated Press.

Durham appears in security footage taken 30 minutes prior to the shooting from a Lincoln City convenience store. The footage shows him dressed in green camouflage and a dark beret.
