Headshot Ends Illinois Standoff With Armed Man

Arlington Heights (Ill.) police officers ended a barricade situation with a single shot late Sunday, after a 28-year-old man who reportedly beat his 9-year-od son fired at officers, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Officers shot the man after a three-hour standoff. The man's wife, 9-year-old son and a one-year-old child were able to exit the house before the standoff. Officers reported muzzle flashes inside the house and returned fire after the man fired at them from the rear of the house.
