A Dallas, Ga., man has died of a single gunshot wound to the chest after a confrontation with Paulding County police Monday.
Douglas Scott Pilcher, 47, reportedly was armed with several weapons inside his home, threatened suicide and fired several shots at authorities before a Paulding County officer fired a shot back and wounded him.
Pilcher was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, according to Cpl. Brandon Gurley with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office. He was pronounced dead there.
The incident happened shortly after 2 p.m. at a home on Sugar Maple Lane in the Seven Hills subdivision near Dallas. Piltcher was the only one at the home at the time of the incident, Gurley said.
