A suicidal Pennsylvania man who threatened to torch his apartment attacked a SWAT officer with a Samurai sword, and then was taken into custody when that officer used his Taser to subdue him, the Daily Times reports.
Police responded to the apartment of George Rogers, 36, after 911 operators recieved a call that Rogers had covered his apartment with gasoline and was armed with crossbows and knives.
Rogers' mother ran from the house when police arrived to warn officers her son had threatened to burn the house and kill the cops.
Officer Dan Lanni, a seven-year veteran and commended officer, entered the house with a ballistic shield and Kevlar vest, to subdue the man. He escaped injury using the shield as protection.
