Armed Suspect Sneaks Out Before SWAT Ends 7-Hour Standoff

After what they thought was a seven-hour standoff with an armed suspect, an Arcadia (Calif.) Police Department SWAT team stormed a house to discover the man they were looking for left before police arrived, the Pasadena Star-News reports.

After what they thought was a seven-hour standoff with an armed suspect, an Arcadia (Calif.) Police Department SWAT team stormed a house to discover the man they were looking for left before police arrived, the Pasadena Star-News reports.

Police received a call from a resident of the home who said someone inside his house had a gun. Police arrived and set up a containment area around the house. A hostage negotiator and SWAT members attempted unsuccessfully to make contact with the suspect. A camera-equipped robot was sent in through the front window to search for the gunman.

When police did go in to determine if the suspect was there, all they found was an elderly man alone.
