COPS Seeks to Reduce School Bomb Threats

June 20, 2005  |

As the school year comes to a close, a new guide could help reduce end-of-school-year bomb threats and help prepare for the next school year.

The publication from the Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) is intended to help educators and law enforcement officials develop and implement strategies to prevent and respond to the growing problem of bomb threats to the nation’s primary and secondary schools.

“Bomb Threats in Schools” reviews factors that increase the risk of such threats, assists readers with analyzing the local threat potential, and identifies successful responses that have been implemented by various school systems and law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

For further information and to download the guide visit COPS at www.cops.usdoj.gov.
