The Seattle Police Department has hired local company Pyramid Communications to analyze media coverage of the agency and find ways to better communicate with the public.
“You can’t place a value on getting information to people,” said Sgt. Carmen Best, head of the media affairs office.
After its review, Pyramid recommended media training for some department officials, putting more emphasis on relationships with community papers, and continuing to promote key programs.
Although the department has had its share of bad publicity, officials say improving its image was not a reason for hiring the marketing firm.
