Suspect in Slaying of Utah Deputy Captured

Arizona’s Coconino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Erika Wittenmuth said Curley was taken into custody about 1 a.m. in the Lost Spring subdivision after a homeowner reported seeing a man with a rifle slung over his shoulder trying to get into his home about 12:20 a.m. In all, 17 police officers rushed to the scene and soon located Curley.

Harris was shot about three miles east of Fredonia, Ariz., a small town just south of the Utah border. The deputy was chasing 23-year-old burglary suspect Scott Curley on foot Thursday afternoon when the suspect allegedly opened fire.
