Justice Department Probes Miami Police Shootings

The Miami Police Department's policies, training and deployment practices will be scrutinized in a federal rights probe announced by the U.S. Justice Department today. The probe will focus on at least four of the seven fatal shootings of black men.

California City Disbands Police Department

A third city in San Mateo County, Calif., has elected to dissolve its police department and contract services to the sheriff's department. In the past year, the sheriff has contracted with San Carlos and Half Moon Bay after those cities dissolved their forces.

A Tulane University Police officer was injured in a bicycle collision Wednesday morning while trying to arrest an alleged iPod thief. The officer eventually collided with the suspect.

A Pasadena (Texas) Police officer used a seat-belt cutter to save a boy who had slipped a zip tie around his neck and tightened it. While being pulled over for a seat-belt violation on Nov. 5, the driver asked the officer to help her 5- or 6-year-old son.

Jury Finds Tampa Cop Killer Guilty

A jury found Humberto Delgado Jr. guilty of all four counts of murder in the death of Tampa Police Cpl. Mike Roberts. The jury announced the verdict on Tuesday night, after only a few hours of deliberation.

A Huron County (Mich.) Sheriff's deputy rescued a stunned deer that was stuck in the roadway for 25 minutes after being struck by a car.
