Model Estella Warren Kicks Cop, Escapes Station

Actress and model Estella Warren assaulted an officer and later escaped from the station during processing. Warren reportedly resisted arrest and kicked an officer, before she was placed in custody.

Lightning Strikes Missouri Officer In Tornado Response

Lightning struck the area near where Officer Jeff Taylor, 31, was riding an ATV, after transporting a fire commander back to a command post. Officer Taylor was transported to a Springfield hospital and treated for burns and other injuries.

Maryland Trooper Killed In Crash Pursuing Motorcycle

Maryland State Trooper Shaft Hunter was killed when his police cruiser crashed into a tractor-trailer while pursuing a motorcycle on I-95 in Howard County. Hunter, 39, was killed at 2:40 a.m. Saturday.

SCOTUS Decision Could Lead to Release of 46,000 Calif. Inmates

The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld a three-judge panel's order to release more than one-fourth of California's prison population to relieve overcrowding. In a 5-4 decision, the court sided with the panel that had ruled inmates didn't have adequate access to medical care.

NIJ Opens Body Armor Grant Period, Requires Mandatory Wear Policy
