New Jersey State Police Detail Sent to Baltimore to Help Quell Riots

New Jersey is sending 150 State Police troopers to Maryland to help restore order in Baltimore after riots erupted in the city, Gov. Chris Christie announced Tuesday.

Officials at the prison say that between 15 and 20 rounds were fired outside the secure perimeter and into the Facility A yard. One correctional officer -- whose identity has not been released -- was grazed by a bullet that penetrated his stab-resistant vest.

Creator of HBO Police Show "The Wire" Denounces Baltimore Rioting

"The Wire," which depicted the Baltimore drug scene through the eyes of drug dealers and police, ran for five seasons on HBO, ending in 2008. Simon, a former Baltimore Sun reporter, was critical of those who resorted to violence Monday.
