Border Patrol Agent Acquitted in 2012 Shooting of Mexican Teen

November 23, 2018  |

A Border Patrol agent charged with manslaughter in the 2012 shooting of a Mexican teenager—16-year-old Jose Antonio Elena Rodriguez—has been acquitted by a jury in Arizona.

Jurors in Tucson found Agent Lonnie Swartz not guilty of involuntary manslaughter but didn't come to a decision on voluntary manslaughter, according to the Houston Chronicle. The verdict comes months after Swartz was acquitted of second-degree murder by another jury that had deadlocked on manslaughter charges, allowing prosecutors to pursue the case again.

Swartz had said throughout the proceedings that Rodriguez was one of several young men who threw rocks at him.

Two juries in a liberal "progressive" area like Tucson/Pima County Az, not a small accomplishment. Indicates to me that the case would have been a slam dunk not guilty the first time around in any "non progressive" area of Az.
Good, dont bring rocks to a gun fight.
