The dramatic bodycam video shows Evans pull the baby from the van and start CPR.

A baby in Montgomery County, TX, was saved by a police chief's quick actions Friday.

Splendora Independent School District Police Chief Rex Evans was on routine patrol, driving from school to school around 2 p.m. when a panicked family flagged him down at a traffic light. The family in a minivan told him they had a baby inside who was not breathing.

The dramatic bodycam video shows Evans pull the baby from the van and start CPR, reports the Houston Chronicle. Just as paramedics pulled up, the baby started breathing again.

"It was such a relief to hear that baby cry," Evans said. "... It hits you right in the heart."
