Kentucky Officer Shot by Homeowner, Mistaken for Suspicious Person

An Owensboro, KY, police officer was shot and wounded in the abdomen by a homeowner who mistook him for a suspicious person Wednesday morning, according to Kentucky State Police.

Troopers have identified the officer as Zachary Morris, 23, of Owensboro.

KSP says Officer Morris was in the area investigating a report about a suspicious person. Officer Morris was wearing a ballistic vest but was hit in the lower abdominal area.

He is recovering from emergency surgery and is in good condition, 14 News reports.

Okay, if he was in uniform who couldn't the homeowner identify him visually. If he was in civies and had a ballistic vest on that is still call for a who are you call before firing at the person. Need a little more info.

He was in uniform, he was on public property, not the homeowners land. I'm sure more will come out later but until the investigation is done, this is what is known.
