Images of students from the Forest Hill (MS) High School marching band's performance during a game against Brookhaven High School depicting the murder of police officers surfaced over the weekend, causing widespread outrage.

According to WLBT-TV, band members dressed as doctors and nurses were seen holding SWAT team members at gunpoint.

The "performance" came just days after two Brookhaven police officers were killed in the line of duty responding to a shots fired call.

Brookhaven Mayor Joe Cox said in a statement on Facebook, "The halftime performance conducted by the Forest Hill Band at our Brookhaven High School home football game last night was inappropriate, irresponsible, and insensitive to say the least. It was a horrific display of disrespect demonstrated toward our local law enforcement, our students and families in attendance of the game, and all citizens of Brookhaven. It is disturbing that the Forest Hill routine has been performed previously with no repercussions to faculty members or administrators, especially given the fact weapons were involved. Even though the weapons were obviously toy guns, it is still a serious violation of school policy. This type of performance is inexcusable under any and all circumstances, especially within the school system, but also in light of our fallen heroes on September 29th who served the Brookhaven Police Department with great honor, Officer Zach Moak and Officer James White."

These school administrator's knew and condoned this behavior of these "snowflake" punk kids and its way out of control. The school staff who teach these kids should be fired for the way they teach disrespectful and negative attitude towards authority figures.

As I retired CHP officer and USMC bandsman, I appalled that thus was not stopped by parents and school admin. I'm simply stupified as to what that band director was (not) thinking. They should be fired immediately.

Charlie @ 10/8/2018 6:50 PM

This is not supprising. The teachers that are in schools, were from colleges that are fostering antiestablishment. They teach their phylosophies, not the subject outline. Right now there is open season on law enforcement. Just read and listen to the news. it is more likely for a LEO to be prosecuted for excessive force, than for a person that assaults them.

Anthony @ 10/8/2018 7:07 PM

Shame, shame on those students and their misdirected anger. Why didn'[t they go further and celebrate the murderers of the two police officers killed there recently. Perhaps a fanfare from the band after shooting the officers and medals given to them.

Shame on them for their disrespect, their dishonor and their stupidity.

This is an embarrassment to MS. No wonder though because the school got an overall grade of D+ on a school grading site. If they would spend more time on academics...........

RJ @ 10/8/2018 7:23 PM

What an embarrassment to MS. No wonder though as on a grading website the school scored a whopping D+...If they would spend more time on academics...

The students that participated should be reprimanded according to the school policies for what they did. They violated school rules and policies by doing something so insensitive and inexcusable. Let’s do the right thing so others don’t think that this type of action can be done without repercussions.

Fletch @ 10/9/2018 7:06 AM

The students should be suspended at the very least , preferably expelled. The “adults” in charge should be fired immediately. This is a gross display of hatred toward law enforcement.
Everyone wants to run around yelling police brutality or black lives matter but here is a blatant example of how these students and their administration feel, not only about law enforcement but about black on black crime as well. And to do this when playing a game against a school whose area just had two Police Officers killed is unimaginable and unforgivable. The band director knew they were going to do this performance and allowed it. In my opinion that is grounds for immediate dismissal. Those students need to be taught that the violence they are depicting is not acceptable and that there are consequences for their actions.

It all started when we allowed this anti-cop communist crap into our colleges in the 60's and 70's, and now it has become blatant in our high schools. When will the elementary schools start allowing it as well? Kindergarten? Where and when will we finally put a stop to it and restore the values that once made us a great nation and a world leader?

Greg Connor @ 10/9/2018 7:37 AM

I understand that we are in an different era , but even though the band members are not "adults" wouldn't you think that of the 9 active participants and the rest of the band being indirectly involved, someone didn't think this was "creepy"! I too was young once, but this falls into the line that "common sense is just not that common anymore"! I guess that also extends to common decency.
It will be interesting to see the results of the investigation and the repercussions that ensue. I will bet that accountability will be absent at the end.

Trigger @ 10/9/2018 7:47 AM

Time to drop the hammer with permanent suspensions of the students and termination of teacher, etc. that supported this behavior. What a slap in the face to the police department and residents of Brookhaven, I cannot even imagine how the families of the two officers that were killed felt about this.

CARL G SCHROEDER @ 10/9/2018 9:24 AM

And people wonder why race relations are on a decline and the membership in the KKK and Aryan Nation is on an increase. No admonishment from the school administration or faculty can mean only one thing, and that is they approve of the actions and display of the students involved.

Grey Bear @ 10/9/2018 10:10 AM

No matter what outlook this was meant to support or encourage, there is simply no way that anyone with two or more brain cells functioning could even begin to think that something like this is appropriate in ANY setting, and certainly not one connected with a school! OMG, what has happened to this country...I simply cannot find words to express my outrage over this!

Marty @ 10/9/2018 10:47 AM

So what happened to not only the students but faculty and administration of this school/school district? Given a pat on the wrist and told not to do it again?

Jon Retired LEO @ 10/11/2018 1:22 PM

One answer to this travesty is that the majority of schools now are being controlled by the liberals. My oldest son is a activities director at a high school in the heartland and he has been thinking seriously about trying to change occupations because the students there and their parents and some faculty are condoning this type of thing. God help us, the second civil war is looming on the horizon.

Mark @ 10/13/2018 8:48 AM

What an outrageous act of insensitivity! If the people responsible are not punished severely, than things are worse than we think. As stated earlier, we on the road towards a civil war or at the least, total anarchy.

Tom ret @ 10/14/2018 8:18 AM

In my view the country needs to go back to the draft. A lot of these kids are brainwashed by the liberals who now infest our schools. We need to get them back into the real world where they have some skin in the game and can see the world for what it really is, not some liberal utopia bs. Yes, the teachers and/or admin. or students themselves should be brought to account for these actions but anymore with the news being mostly controlled by the liberals who push this nonsense it probably wont be an isolated incident and may get worse. Now the liberals are urging their followers to get in the face of anyone who disagrees with their outlook until they are back in power at which time they can return to being nice. The more liberals get into office and thus power the worse it will be for the cops.

Stephen Watts @ 10/15/2018 4:12 PM

Boycott the town, this is a reflection of their values and you can make me belive other teachers and the administration didn't knoW much less the parents.

AD @ 10/15/2018 8:26 PM

Jon the retired LEO, your comments don't help either.

otj27yrs @ 10/16/2018 6:42 AM

I don't think you hold the students liable for the content of a show. That decision is made by their director or at the very lease approved by their director. I see several flaws with this. Number one the content and the context of it. Number two we have seen many instances where a realistic looking toy gun resulted in the carrier getting shot. In this day and time of school security and active shooter incidents to introduce those onto school campuses is extremely reckless. Number three If you are going to introduce a subject from pop culture without a filter for decency then why not Texas chainsaw massacre,
or the saw series or any other of the many graphic horror or demonic films. Perhaps they do a show of Hitler turning the knobs of a gas chamber and all of the band falling out like dead Jews. This was show at a ball game with children present. The band director should be fired the principle and maybe the school superintendent should also be held accountable or removed as well.
