Boston's Famous "Bullpen Cop" Set to Retire in January 2019

One of the most iconic images of the 2013 baseball playoffs is when Detroit Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter went head-first into the Red Sox bullpen aiming to snag a home run ball hit by David Ortiz, and Boston Police officer Steve Horgan raised his fists in jubilation when the ball eluded Hunter's glove.

One of the most iconic images of the 2013 baseball playoffs is when Detroit Tigers outfielder Torii Hunter went head-first into the Boston Red Sox bullpen aiming to snag a home run ball hit by David Ortiz, and Boston Police officer Steve Horgan raised his fists in jubilation when the ball eluded Hunter's glove.

Now, the 33-year veteran of the Boston Police Department has announced his retirement, beginning in January 2019, according to NBC Sports.

Red Sox fans still ask Horgan to pose for pictures in his joyous pose.

In his retirement, Horgan told WCVB-TV that he hopes to pursue his love for cooking.
