Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan have finalized a proposed court order intended to bring sweeping change to the city's police department.

Emanuel, Madigan, and police Superintendent Eddie Johnson held a news conference Thursday to announce the completion of the proposed consent decree, according to the Chicago Tribune.

"This agreement builds on the reforms we’ve already made and creates an enforceable, durable and sustainable framework for systemic changes to the Chicago Police Department," Emanuel said at the press conference.

"This consent decree will fundamentally change CPD," Emanuel said.

I wonder how many officers will leave after they "unveil" their new plan to make things better for the criminals? Emmanuel must love being the mayor over one of the most dangerous cities in the country, since he's about to make it worse.

And then "his honor" is bailing out.

Gentlemen: The problem does not appear to be the police. They make arrests but the JUDGES do not prosecute the felons. They let them go with the proverbial "slap on the wrist" and they go out, buy another illegal gun and commit more crimes. You can examine, revamp, restructure the CPD all you want. You're rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

Overhaul the department? Bring sweeping changes to the officers? How about starting with overhauling the city and its savage gangster low life criminal "citizens" who live in the dirty crime infested areas. They ARE the problem. They ARE the cause. They ARE the low life good for nothing idiots who kill in their own city. You cant put a fresh coat of paint on a rusted sinking ship of a city and expect it to float. Keep your hands OFF of the police and get hands ON the criminals. Enforce the laws. Put the shooter, dope sellers, and killers in jail. Dont give them any chance to break the laws already written.
If the city officials keep up with bul#%it ways in 10 years we will be reading about the same thing again here on this police mag.com line..

You can march, you can have all the new social programs you like, you can dance, Lip sinc, all the sports clubs and cookouts, you can cumbaya all you like, but until the cowards in charge turn the police loose and the courts get a pair it will go on and on. The police should have blue flu for a month and see if a new song gets sung.

What awesome news...Rahm sticks it to his police, and the same week announces he's not running for re-election...bet he finds a way to blame it everyone but him. And the AG is Lisa Madigan, whose father is arguably the biggest crook in the State of Illinois, surely this new agreement will allow him to raid the police department's funds like he has all the rest of Illinois' funds. To my brothers and sisters at CPD, I certainly do not envy the position these political hacks have left you all in.

That's what happens when you bring BLM and the ACLU to the table. You think the violence is bad now? Just wait!

TIM UMINA @ 9/14/2018 4:23 PM

I'm sure these efforts will help the being down this border rate!!!!!NOT.....more political subterfuge to avoid dealing with the real issue!
