Oregon Deputy Uses Naloxone to Save K-9 from Accidental Overdose

August 09, 2018  |

A deputy with the Clackamas County (OR) Sheriff's Office was with his K-9 partner Abbie on Tuesday when the dog was exposed to heroin in a container. The container spilled and Abbie began exhibiting signs of drug exposure, including rapid blinking and head shaking, according to the Statesman Journal.

A deputy who handles a different K-9 delivered a special Naloxone kit designed for for dogs.

Abbie spent the night at an animal hospital and was released Wednesday.

So glad to hear that the K-9 is going to be ok. You never know what is in these containers any more and most of them are deadly.
