Man Unleashes Pitbull on New York Officer, Dog Wounded by Gunshot

A Rochester, NY, police officer responding to a domestic dispute was bitten on the leg by a pitbull. The officer shot the dog, who reportedly did not die from the gunshot.

A Rochester, NY, police officer responding to a domestic dispute was bitten on the leg by a pitbull. The officer shot the dog, who reportedly did not die from the gunshot.

The dog is one of two that the domestic violence suspect allegedly set loose on officers as they approached his front door.

The wounded dog retreated and was later secured by Animal Control, according to the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

The wounded officer was taken to a nearby hospital where he was treated and released.
