Police: Chicago Officer Found Dead in Squad a Suicide

July 10, 2018  |

A spokesman for the Chicago Police Department confirmed that an officer who was found in a patrol car on Sunday night died by suicide.

The 36-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and certainly his police family,” Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. “We know they’re very affected. The superintendent talked to those folks today. It’s very difficult for us and we’ve made awareness about suicide a priority because we know we’re one of the departments with the highest rates of suicide.”

Sad to have a fellow officer lost anyway, with all the officers around us none of them really pay attention to the other officers, we should all look out for each other but for some reason it is not done

Condolences and prayers to the officers' family.
